Aged 26 years on lees
A harsh winter and a capricious spring gradually gave way to more favourable weather, resulting in a memorable harvest. Due to its excellent ripeness and exceptionally high acidity, the 1996 harvest provided unique balance, typical of great vintages for ageing. After 26 years in the cellars, Collection Trésor 1996 has reached full maturity and is now ready to reveal its secrets.
Bright gold in colour, it presents delicate, lively bubbles.
The nose is expressive and wonderfully luscious. It opens with complex, fruit-driven aromas of acacia and candied fruit that testify to its extended ageing.
This leads into notes of dried apricots, grilled almonds and lemon zest.
On the palate, Collection Trésor 1996 has an amazingly creamy and remarkably delicate texture. Generous and complex aromas of candied orange and underbrush gain in intensity as mineral notes come through in a long finish.
As an outstanding gastronomic champagne, Collection Trésor 1996 will have a rightful place at the most prestigious restaurants, from the beginning to the end of the meal. Its power is enhanced by game or truffles. A lemon meringue tart brings out its freshness.
